We meet in the church for about an hour to listen, sing, hear from the Bible, pray for our world, and think about how we can make a difference. Rev Jay usually leads us as we meet at 10am on Sundays, with a mixture of intergenerational and creative styled worship – sometimes we use video clips and drama or puppets. There is a breakdown of a usual service below for you.
1st & 3rd Sunday of the month
We meet at 5:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evening of the month as part of the Sonder Collective community. Ps Kelly usually leads us in worship where we meet together with those from other church communities to explore how we understand who Jesus is for us today, and how we are to live this understanding out in the world. If you go to our ‘Mission’ drop down heading you can read more about the Sonder Collective.
The band leads the music at both services – in the morning it’s a mix of older style songs for the older style people and newer music for the newer style people. Sometimes a bit of jazz and blues even creeps in there. In the evening the style of music is usually songs that have been released in the last few years. Any week you might hear a combo of keyboard, trumpet, sax, violin, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and organ. We think the music’s pretty good. (Still waiting on that recording contract!) Feel free to sing along or just listen.
We’re Family friendly!
Nobody minds a bit of noise and wriggling from little ones so don’t worry. You’ll find a kids’ activity table on the left as you go in so feel free to sit over that side where they can move around a bit. There’s room for prams and pushers too. If you need to take bubs out for whatever the reasons you can also try the foyer where you can still hear what’s going on. Oh, and there’s a baby change table in the disabled toilet in the foyer if you need it! Our Families Pastor, Tai, is happy to introduce you to other families here and answer any questions.
During the morning service our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Erin, does a short talk with the pre-school/primary kids and then during the sermon time they are invited to go out together with Erin and her helpers for about 15 – 20 minutes for activities in the Kids’ Room. The Kids’ Room is right next to the main worship area so you’ll be close by. You’re welcome to go with them to make sure they settle in and if they prefer to sit with you in the church that’s fine too.
After the morning service it’s time for morning tea in the foyer. You can stay to eat, drink and chat or you can race off – whatever suits you. Once a month we have a shared lunch. If you happen to turn up on shared lunch day, don’t panic – there’s always a spare sandwich and a Tim Tam floating around.
